For the 57th Venice Art Biennale, the Philippines’ representation was awarded to Joselina Cruz for her curatorial proposal The Spectre of Comparison. The curator chose to feature the works of artists Manuel Ocampo and Lani Maestro.


Homecoming exhibition, Manila 2019

The Spectre of Comparison exhibition had its homecoming in the Philippines, at the Museum of Contemporary Art and Design (MCAD), in the School of Design and Arts, De La Salle-College of Saint-Benilde, in Manila. It ran from 24 May to 21 July 2019.

A panel discussion on “Global View of Art Practice through Biennales,” with the curators of the past Philippine Pavilions at both Venice Art Biennale (2015, 2017) and Venice Architecture Biennale (2016, 2018).

An Artists Talk session with artists Manuel Ocampo and Lani Maestro presenting and discussing their works to the public.
