As we are one with the world in dealing with the covid-19 pandemic, we created this video about the Filipino “bayanihan” or community spirit, which is also practiced in many countries around the world.
These structures of resilience, self-organization and collaboration are slowly slipping away in current society where the currency of wealth is measured by money rather than the relationships we build among ourselves. However, during the pandemic, we’ve witnessed how mutual support has allowed us to survive these trying times.
We are proud that this practice is also the theme of the Structures of Mutual Support Exhibition curated by Framework Collaborative, the official representation of the Philippines at the 17th Venice Architecture Biennale which has been postponed to May 2021. The exhibition explores how throughout history, people have come together to achieve a common goal through a process built on social relationships, reciprocity and communal solidarity.
We invite everyone to follow our platforms and join in the conversation.
